The World Bank Group commissioned a “Regional Report on Ecommerce Readiness in South Asia,” which includes desk research and field missions to Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Innovation Calls is part of a Scottish consortia led by another Scottish firm responsible for the delivery of services to the Bank. Innovation Call’ s role is to examine capital financing, trade and customs and the business environment for entrepreneurs in each South Asian country, and to develop policy recommendations to the World Bank with specific priorities to grow the eCommerce ecosystem across South Asia over the next 3 years.
Our team is designing and implementing field surveys and field interviews with key industry experts in each country: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Innovation Call is leveraging its executive level connections to host multi-stakeholder consultations, interviews and discussions with eCommerce entrepreneurs like Flipkart, tech leaders, venture capital firms such as Accel Partners, industry associations, ISP providers, mobile operators, postal services, retailers, academics and relevant government agencies for each country.
The output is expected to be a WB branded report that will examine eCommerce readiness in South Asia and identify strategic approaches and priorities for further opportunities for digital trade in the countries and region as a whole. Special emphasis will be given to areas where eCommerce can have the most impact on inclusive growth, poverty, enhancing opportunities for women, and jobs.
